


Open post doc position CDR and IAM
A postdoctoral research position is available for modeling emerging technologies, with focus area of carbon capture and removal (CDR) technologies within Integrated Assessment Models (IAM). We seek a researcher who is familiar with different CDR technologies, understands the concept of prospective LCA, and can apply new methods for evaluation of the projected impacts of the full-scale technologies' development using IAM.
Qualifications:
This position requires a strong modeling background as well as familiarity with a variety of CDR technologies (marine, soil, and subsurface). Relevant background includes energy systems engineering, and exact science.
Familiarity with Assessment Models (IAM) such as the MESSAGE model by IIASA and scenarios development is a big plus.
Programming in R and\or P Python is desired.
The position will be funded by Tel Aviv University in collaboration with variety of research teams from different universities in Israel and with the ECE group at IIASA, Austria. The successful candidate will work closely with a diverse research group led by Professor Vered Blass (TAU, IIASA). The responsibilities of the applicant include developing relevant modeling approaches and connecting them with the MESSAGE model developed by IIASA, at a national level. Contribution to project reports, mentoring students, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals will be expected.
Funding is available for up to 2.5 years, depending on performance and project development. The position requires spending time in Israel and Austria, however, there is flexibility in living location. A monthly stipend (tax-free) will be paid according to the Tel Aviv University post-doc stipend levels.
